Richard Lee Stotter

Stotter was considered to be one of the greatest players in the University of Houston's history, and was an All-America in 1967. He then played in three games for the Houston Oilers in 1968.

Career Highlights:
Stotter was a three-year letter winner with Houston in the mid-1960s. In 1965, the Cougars finished with a record of 4-5-1. The following year, they vastly improved, averaging 33.5 points per game. They finished the season ranked No. 17 in the UP poll with a record of 8-2-0.

In 1967, Stotter was a consensus All-America selection at guard as Houston had another terrific season. Their offense again proved strong, averaging 32.2 points per game while the defense allowed only 12.2 points. They again finished ranked in the top 20 (No. 18 by UP) with a record of 7-3-0. Stotter was also an Academic All-American linebacker for the Cougars.

After graduating, Stotter was selected by the Houston Oilers in the 14th round of the NFL Draft. That year, he played in three games as the Oilers finished with a record of 7-7-0. In 2000, Stotter was inducted into the University of Houston Athletic Hall of Fame.

Stotter played as a guard and linebacker for Houston from 1965-1967. He then played linebacker for the NFL's Houston Oilers in 1968.
