Lumelski, Zev

Lumelski, a 6'7", 310 pound offensive tackle at the University of Miami (Florida) in the 1990s, was named Sporting News preseason All-Big East as a senior in 1994. He later played in NFL Europe for the Amsterdam Admirals.

Career Highlights:
A four-year letterwinner, Lumelski played for Miami in the early 1990s when the football program was one of the best in the nation. He was a freshman in 1991 when the Hurricanes won the national championship with a perfect 12-0 record and a 22-0 victory over Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. The following year, the Hurricanes finished the regular season with a record of 11-0 and were ranked No. 1 in the country. In the Sugar Bowl, however, they were upset by Alabama, 34-13.

In 1993, Lumelski became a starter for the Hurricanes as they went 9-2 in the regular season. Unfortunately, they again lost in a bowl game, this time to Arizona, 29-0 in the Fiesta Bowl. Miami was ranked No. 14 in the final AP poll. Zev was considered one of the best offensive linemen in the Big East entering his senior year, and he helped Miami return to the top ten in 1994. They went 11-1 in the regular season, but lost to Nebraska in the Orange Bowl, 24-17. Nebraska won the national championship that year while Miami ended up ranked No. 6.
