Hance, Brandon

After being replaced as the the starting quarterback at Purdue, Hance transferred to the University of Southern California where backed up Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart. USC finished the 2004 season as the National Champions, with an unbeaten record of 13-0. Unusual for a quarterback at a major football power, Brandon is a music major.

Career Highlights:
Playing for Taft High School in Woodland Hills, California, Brandon won the 1999 USA Today All-American honorable mention, Prep Star All-American, and Super Prep Star All-American, among other honors. He completed 60.1% of his passes for 2,400 yards, with 22 touchdown passes. He was an excellent runner as well, with over 500 yards and seven touchdowns.

Hance was the initial starting QB for Purdue in his sophomore year. He did well, passing for 52.7% and 1,529 yards, with eight touchdown tosses. Yet he lost the starting berth after nine games to Kyle Orton, despite having been named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week as well as being selected to the Academic All-Big Ten team.

The following year Brandon enrolled at USC, but was not allowed to compete due to the transfer rule. In addition, he had to undergo surgery for a bad shoulder. In 2003, Hance played sparingly as USC finished as the national co-champion with LSU.
