Reichgott, George

Reichgott played fullback at the University of Miami in the early 1930s. Following the 1932 season, the Hurricanes played in the Palm Festival game against Manhattan College. Miami boosters recognized the success of the Rose Bowl in California and sought to use the Palm Festival as an attraction during the Depression. Two years later, the name of the game was changed to the Orange Bowl.

Reichgott played three seasons at fullback for the Hurricanes in the early 1930s. In 1932, the Hurricans had a record of 4-3-1, including a 7-0 victory over Manhattan in the Palm Festival game on New Year's Day 1933 (the Palm Festival was the precedessor of the Orange Bowl game, which began following the 1934 season). The following season, Miami finished the regular season with a record of 5-0-2 and again played in the Palm Festival game. This time, they lost to Duquesne by a score of 33-7.
