Sylvan N. King

King, who played for Princeton in the 1910s, was the nephew of the great Phil King, the legendary Princeton backfield star from 1890-93.

Career Highlights:
One of the greatest high school stars in the Washington area in the 1910s, King participated in baseball, football, and track at Central High School where he "commanded the respect and admiration of the local sporting community." He led the football team to the city championship in 1912 and shocked his high school when he left school one semester early to prepare for the entrance exams at Princeton.

King played two seasons at fullback for Princeton. In 1914, the Tigers had a record of 5-2-1 and King was named captain of the All-New Jersey State Team. In 1915, they won their first six games before falling to Harvard and Yale to finish 6-2. The captain that year was Frank Glick.
