Friedman, Doug

Friedman, a big bruising wing, currently plays for the Worcester Ice Cats of the AHL. In the late 1990s, he played sparingly for the Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators in the NHL.

Career Highlights:
Doug was drafted in 1991 by the Quebec Nordiques as their 13th pick (222nd overall) while still playing at Boston University. After graduating in 1994, Friedman spent the next 3 years in the minors with the Cornwall Aces and Hershey Bears of the AHL. In 1997, he was signed as a free agent by the Edmonton Oilers and played in 16 games for them during the 1997-98 season. He did not score, but incurred 20 penalty minutes, including one game misconduct. Friedman spent most of the year in the minors, and was then claimed by the Nashville Predators in the 1998 Expansion Draft. In 1998-99, Doug played primarily in the minors, appearing in 69 games for the Milwaukee Admirals in the IHL, with 26 goals, 25 assists, and 251 penalty minutes. That season, Friedman did get a chance to play a little in the NHL; he appeared in two games for Nashville and had 1 assist, 3 shots and 12 penalty minutes. In 1999, Doug signed with the San Jose Sharks, but remained in the minors with the Sharks' AHL affiliate, Kentucky, where he racked up 36 points and 237 penalty minutes in 73 games.
