Ing, Peter

Ing played 74 games for three different teams during his NHL career. He was the most productive with his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs and was named NHL Rookie of the Month in December, 1990.

Career Highlights:
In 1988, Ing was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 3rd round (48th overall) of the NHL Draft. After spending time in the minors, he joined the Maple Leafs for three games during the 1989-90 season and posted a 0-2-1 record (he allowed 18 goals). After being sent back to minors that year, Ing returned to the Maple Leafs in 1990-91 and had his best NHL season, although Toronto finished last in the Norris Division with a record of 23-46-11. Peter appeared in a career-high 56 games, and had a record of 16-29-8 (career-high for wins) with a career-best 3.84 goals against average and his one career shutout. That December, he was named NHL Rookie of the Month as he went 7-3-1 with a 2.43 GAA and a 91.3 save percentage!

Just before the 1991-92 season, Ing was traded to the Edmonton Oilers (one of the players involved in the deal was Grant Fuhr). He played 12 games for the Oilers that year and had a record of 3-4-0 before being sent to the minors. After playing the entire 1992-93 season in the minors, Ing was then traded by the Oilers to the Detroit Red Wings, for whom he played in 3 games (1-2-0) in 1993-94. Ing spent the next three years playing in the IHL for various teams and never returned to the NHL.
