Revesz, Bela

Revesz, a fullback (defender) in the 1910s, played for the Hungarian National team and the club team MTK Budapest. According to Andrew Handler in From the Ghetto to the Games, Revesz "struck fear into the hearts of strikers by his mere presence. The huge, powerfully built right back of MTK often proved an immovable obstacle in the path of skillfully woven attacks." Although he lacked agility and speed, Revesz had the unique ability to use both feet (at the time, most players used one foot exclusively). An outstanding player in the air with a talent for headers, Revesz also trained harder than any player in Hungary.

Career Highlights:
A fullback for MTK in the mid-1910s, Revesz helped his club capture the Hungary League title in 1914. That year, they also captured the Hungary Cup. A member of the Hungarian National team, as well, Revesz appeared in eight international games between 1909-1915.
After his playing career ended, Revesz became a coach in Italy. In 1923-24, he coached Alessandria FC. After a seven-year hiatus, Revesz returned to Italy and Alessandria. From 1931-33, he coached Triestina Trieste, and then in 1935-36, he coached Taranto, a Third Division club.
