Keissei, Adoram

Keissei, a left-sided defender, is a starter in the Israeli national team. He is known as a reliable and athletic player who provides enviable security on the left wing and possesses the ability to score goals at crucial moments.

Career Highlights:
Keissei played for Hapoel Petah Tikva (with a brief loan to Shimshon Tel Aviv) which is where he took his first steps as a youth player and as a pro. Adoram impressed with his consistently effective defending. Maccabi Haifa purchased Keissei in 1997 although the player had suffered a serious injury. Although it took Adoram awhile to recover, he regained his confidence and established himself as an ever-present starter for Haifa. In 1998, Keissei helped the Greens win the Israel State Cup. The 2000-01 season saw Keissei's star rise dramatically as Haifa won the title and he became a regular on the national squad.

Adoram played in every game for Maccabi Haifa in their historic 2002 European Champions League campaign. He maintained a very high standard of play throughout. Haifa lost (5-2) to Manchester United in the first game. They proceeded to beat Olmpiakos (3-0) in a great performance before losing both games to Bayer Leverkusen. On October 30, 2002, Haifa beat Manchester United 3-0 to the amazement of the soccer community. They ended up in third place and were knocked out of the UEFA cup by AEK Athens.

Maccabi Haifa lost the 2002-03 title on the last day of competition, but Adoram enjoyed a fine campaign. He scored 3 goals and made the same number of assists while keeping his starting berth for both club and country. In 2003-04 Keissei was a mainstay in Maccabi's defense as it allowed no more then 25 goals in the Premier League. Haifa won the league title while the defender scored 3 goals and made two assists (high numbers for an Israeli defender) in 33 league appearances.

Adoram was released by Maccabi Haifa after the 2003-04 season and replaced with Najwan Grayeb. He will return to the team he grew up in, Hapoel Petah Tikva for the 2004-05 campaign.

Adoram remained a fixture at left back in the 2006 World Cup qualification campaign. On November 17, 2004, he helped Israel to an important away victory 2-1 over Cyprus. Keissei took advantage of a ruckus in the Cypriot box to push in Israel's first goal, seventeen minutes into the encounter.
