Sha'harbani, Yehuda

Yehuda was the personification of Hakoah Ramat Gan, a special club formed by the legendary Hakoah Vienna in Israel. Ramat Gan is now a small team with a proud history. During his career in the 1960s and 1970s, Sha'harbani also appeared in 11 games for the Israeli National team and scored two international goals.

Career Highlights:
After Hapoel Ramat Gan became the first team from that city to win the championship in 1964, Yehuda helped Hakoah win their first championship the following year. Over the next decade, he was one of Israel's top players and Hakoah won both the 1968-69 and 1970-71 State Cup tournaments. In 1972, Sha'harbani was the Israeli League's leading scorer with 21 goals; and in 1973, he led the Hakoah side in a victorious bid to capture another title (it would be their last) and reach the Cup final.

Yehuda has become a well respected soccer commentator, with a regular newspaper column and ongoing radio work. Sha'harbani has also worked with the Ramat Gan municipal youth program, to help rebuild the city's soccer foundations.
