Vissoker, Itzhak

Vissoker, a goalkeeper, was Israel's starter in the 1960s and 1970s and registered 43 full international caps (appearances) during his illustrious career. Between 1964-1976, he helped lead Israel to the 1968 Asian Nations Cup, the 1970 World Cup, the 1974 Asian Games, and the 1976 Olympics.

Career Highlights:
Vissoker began his international career in 1964. Six years later, firmly entrenched as Israel's starting goalkeeper, he helped lead his country to the World Cup Finals, the only time Israel has advanced that far. In the tournament, lost to Uruguay (2-0), tied Sweden (1-1), and tied Italy (0-0); unfortunately, they did not advance to the next round of the tournament. In 1974, Vissoker led Israel to the final of the Asian Games, where the team lost to Iran, 1-0.

In 1976, Vissoker's final year of international competition, he was the starting goalie at the Olympic Games. He played in all three preliminary games, wheres Israel drew with Guatemala (0-0), Mexico (2-2), and France (1-1). The Israeli team, with its three points finished second in the group behind France and advanced to the quarterfinals. Vissoker played in the quarterfinal match against powerhouse Brazil, who defeated Israel, 4-1. Israel officially finished in fifth place.
