Cohen, George

Cohen played alongside legends Bobby Charlton and Jimmy Greaves and was a crucial member of the English team that won the 1966 World Cup; George was considered by many of his contemporaries to be the most important player in that team. Cohen is now a successful double glazer, and remains an outspoken commentator on English soccer, particularly his beloved Fulham club.

Career Highlights:
Cohen, who spent his entire career at the modest London club, Fulham, made his professional debut on the first squad in 1956. Three years later, he helped Fulham win promotion. In 1964, Cohen made his debut with the English National team at right back and became a mainstay with the squad; he missed just five of the next 41 international matches. A member of the 1966 World Cup team, the only time in English history they captured the title, Cohen was sidelined by injuries, which prevented him from playing on the 1970 World Cup squad. He was awarded the MBE in 2000, and Fulham has named a lounge after him.
