Ran, Eyal

Ran is one of Israel's top tennis players, and has competed in all four Grand Slam events as a doubles competitor since turning pro in 1992. On July 5, 2002, he was ranked No. 1,308 in the world in doubles; he achieved his highest ranking in October, 1999 (No. 71). Eyal was also ranked No. 138 in singles in April, 1997, though he is currently unranked in singles.

Career Highlights:
After playing at the Australian Open in 1996 and 1997 in the singles competition (he lost in the second round both years), Eyal played in his first doubles Grand Slam in 1999, reaching the second round at the French Open (he lost in the first round at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open). The following year, he played doubles in all four Grand Slam events, reaching the second round at Wimbledon, but losing in the first round of the other three tournaments. In 2001, Ran reached the second round at the Australian Open, but lost in the first round of the French Open and Wimbledon (with partner Noam Behr).
