Steven Meister

In the 1970s and 1980s, Meister was one of the top doubles players in the world. At one point in his career, he was ranked in the top ten. He currently lives in Miami and is involved in the preservation of the Israeli Youth Tennis Center. Meister is a former member of the ATP Board of Directors.

Career Highlights:
Meister, who both played and coached in the Maccabiah Games, grew up in New York and attended Princeton University. A big, right-handed player, he competed in both singles and doubles events, but was more successful as a doubles player. In the early 1980s, he competed in all four Grand Slam events and reached the third round at Wimbledon in 1984. Although records are incomplete, it is known that he won at least two doubles titles. According to the ATP website (www.atptennis.com), Meister had a career singles record of 30-62 and won $233,795 in singles competition.
