Friedkin, who turned professional in 1935, was a highly regarded featherweight and lightweight. In March 1937, he faced Kid Chocolate in a six-round no decision bout. In 1940, Friedkin fought former world champ Mike Belloise twice in the span of 14 days; the first fight ended in a draw, and Friedkin lost the second on a decision. Although considered a contender, Friedkin never received a title shot during his career, which ended in 1943.
