Zinger was the backup goalie for the Soviet Union ice hockey team at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, France. During the tournament, the Soviets won their three preliminary games against Finland, East Germany, and the United States by a combined score of 27-2. In the final round-robin pool, they then won three of four games and finished first to capture the gold medal, defeating West Germany, Sweden, and Canada. Among Zinger's teammates were forwards Yuriy Moiseyev, and Yevgeniy Zimin, and defenseman Vitaliy Davidov.

Career Highlights:
Zinger was one of the Soviet Union's top goalies in the 1960s. He was a member of the Soviet National Team from 1964-1969, mostly as a backup, but he was the starting goaltender for 1968-69 World Championship team that won the gold medal. In 2002, Zinger was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
