A member of the mighty Soviet hockey teams in the 1960s and 1970s, Davidov is one of only four hockey players in history (along with teammates Anatoli Firsov, Viktor Kuzkin and Alexander Ragulin) to have won three gold medals. Davidov competed in three Olympiads: the 1964 Innsbruck (Austria) Games, the 1968 Grenoble (France) Games, and the 1972 Sapporo (Japan) Games, with the Soviet Union winning the gold medal each time.

Career Highlights:
A legend in Russian ice hockey, Davidov was a member of the Soviet Union's Red Army team in the 1960s and early 1970s. He joined the National team in 1963; and that year, the Soviets won the gold medal at the World Championships. They had not won the gold since 1956. With Davidov on the team, the Soviet Union proceeded to win the next eight World Championships, from 1964-1971. In 1972, Davidov's final year as a member of the National squad, the Soviets captured the silver at the Worlds.

Davidov also played in the Soviet League as a member of Dynamo Moscow, a team founded in the 1940s and originally sponsored by the KGB. During his career, Davidov appeared in 548 games for Dynamo between 1957-1973. He later coached the club from 1979-1981, and was the manager of Dynamo Moscow in the late 1990s. Davidov is still active in Russian hockey and was a member of the selection committee for Russia's Olympic team at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.
