Considered one of the greatest water polo goalkeepers of all time, Brody was a member of the Hungarian water polo teams at the 1932 and 1936 Olympics. In 1932, Brody played for Hungary in their first game against Germany, a 6-2 victory. In their next game though, Brody gave way to Istvan Barta (Hungary's starting goalie at the 1924 and 1928 Games) against an overmatched Japan team, and Hungary won 17-0. Brody returned to the goal for the final, against the United States, whom Hungary defeated (7-0) to capture the gold medal.

Brody returned to the Olympics four years later at the 1936 Berlin Games and again helped the Hungarian team win the gold medal, They went undefeated in the competition and had impressive victories over Yugoslavia (4-1), Belgium (3-0), the Netherlands (8-0), and France (5-0) enroute to winning the gold. One of Brody's teammates at both competitions was back Miklos Sarkany

Gyorgy emigrated to South Africa following the failed 1956 Hungarian Revolution.

Career Highlights:
Brody appeared for the Hungarian national teams 74 times, and won the 1928 Hungarian national championship, and 1934 European championship. He is a member of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
