A member of the Israeli weightlifting team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Ivanovsky competed in the 99-kg division, but did not place in the top ten. Following the Games, in October 1996, Ivanovsky was ordered by Israel's Interior Ministry to leave the country by the end of November. It was discovered that Vacislav had fictitiously married a Tel Aviv prostitute to gain Israeli citizenship and he was deported.

Career Highlights:
Ivanovsky finished in third place at the 1995 European Championships. That same year, he was the silver medalist at the European Youth Championships, and also took the silver medal in the snatch.
