A member of the Israeli wrestling team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Beilin was considered one of the favorites to medal in the 63-kg Greco-Roman competition. Ranked No. 3 in the world prior to the Games, he won his first match 1-0 against Vitaly Chuk of Belarus, but lost in the elimination pool by a score of 4-0 to Uzbekistan's Bakodir Korvanov. Beilin officially finished 15th overall.

Career Highlights:
Beilin, a Greco-Roman wrestler who competes for Hapoel Tel Aviv, began competing at the highest international levels in the mid-1990s. In 1996, he finished 12th at the European Championships. The following year, Beilin continued his success with a sixth place finish at the European Championships and a fourth place finish at the World Championships.

In 1998, Beilin finished 17th in the Europeans and 13th in the Worlds, but returned to the top rankings the following year. At the 1999 World Championships, Michael won the bronze medal in the 63-kg weight class, and at the 2001 Maccabiah Games, he captured the gold medal in the 69-kg class. Beilin then won the bronze medal at the 2001 World Championships and 2002 European Championships.

In 2002, he finished a disappointing 12th at the World Championships, and then finished 20th at the 2003 World Championships.
