An outstanding skater, Burger had the misfortune of competing against Sonja Henie, who many consider to be the greatest female figure skater in history. Representing Austria at the 1928 and 1932 Olympics, Fritzi won the silver medal in women's figure skating at both competitions, finishing second to Henie twice. At the 1932 Lake Placid Games, Burger received four second-place votes, two third-place votes, and one fourth-place vote (from the British judge) to finish with 2,167.1 points and a rating of 18 (Henie received all seven first-place votes and had 2,302.5 points)

Career Highlights:
In the late 1920s and early 1930s, Fritzi was one of the best figure skaters in the world. She placed in the top three at the World Championships four times, from 1928-1932 (third in 1928 and 1931, and second in 1929 and 1932). Burger also won the first-ever European Championship in 1930 and finished second in 1931-1932, and third in 1933.
