Representing Great Britain as middleweight in the freestyle wrestling competition at the 1928 Games, Rabin won the bronze medal despite losing his only match. Rabin faced Donald Stockton of Canada in the first round of the tournament and lost the decision. In the next two rounds, two other competitors retired and Rabin found himself in third place by default without wrestling again. One of the retired competitors was American Ralph Hammonds, who lost the gold medal match and then declined to wrestle for either the silver or bronze.
