A member of the Israeli Olympic weightlifting team, Friedman and ten other members of the Israeli delegation were killed by Arab terrorists at the 1972 Munich Games. He was 28 years old.

Career Highlights:
Friedman, who began his athletic career as a gymnast, competed as a weightlifter for Hapoel Kiryat Haim and was the bantamweight champion for six years. He was also quite successful in international competition, and after finishing in seventh place at the 1969 World Championships, he placed third at the 1971 Asian Games. Friedman was also an instructor at the Wingate Institute.
