A member of the Israeli track and field team at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, Benzoor competed in the 100-meter sprint and the women's long jump. In the 100-meter, she finished sixth in her preliminary heat with a time of 12.30 and just missed qualifying for the next round by .04 seconds. In the long jump, she again just missed advancing past the first round with a jump of 6.07-meters (19'11"). This placed her seventh in her preliminary group and she missed moving on by just 0.12-meters.

Career Highlights:
In the 1980s, Maya was one of Israel's best track and field athletes, setting numerous national records. As of July 2002, she held the Israeli indoor long jump record (6.13 meters), and was second all-time in the outdoor long jump (6.27 meters). Maya, who attended Northern Arizona University, also holds the school record of outdoor long jump at 20'6" (6.10 meters).
