Bazarov was a member of Israel's track and field team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, competing in the 400-meter hurdles. In his preliminary heat, he finished in fifth place with a time of 50.33 and did not advance to the quarterfinals. He missed qualifying by 0.36 seconds.

Career Highlights:
Born in Moldavia, Bazarov competed for the Soviet Union in the 1980s before emigrating to Israel in the early 1990s. At the 1987 World University Games, he finished fifth overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 49.76. In 1989, after registering the 42nd fastest time in the world in the same event (50.03), Bazarov blazed through the standings to finish fifth at the Goodwill Games the following year (50.13).

After emigrating to Israel in 1991, Bazarov quickly broke the Israeli national record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 49.87; as of October 2001, he still held the record (the second-fastest time is 51.18). At the 1993 World Championships, he finished fifth in his preliminary heat (50.08) and did not advance to the semifinals. Bazarov retired from competition in the mid-1990s.
