Weinstein made the United States Olympic diving team in 1980, qualifying in the platform competition, but did not compete at the Moscow Games. The U.S. boycotted the Olympics following the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan.

Career Highlights:
Born in Cincinnati, Weinstein dedicated her childhood to diving. A member of the the club team, Cincinnati Stingray, she tried out for the U.S. Olympic team at the U.S. Trials in 1972 at the age of 14 and again 1976 at the age of 18, where she missed qualifying by one point. In 1980, the same year she finally made the Olympic team, Weinstein won the 10-meter competition at the U.S. Outdoor Platform Diving Championships.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Michigan, Weinstein was the Big Ten champion in the one-meter dive in 1977. Two years later, she won the gold medal at the Pan American Games. Weinstein's father, Aaron Weinstein served as president of U.S. Diving and U.S. Aquatic Sports.
