Jacobs was a member of Holland's men's gymnastics team at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. During the competition, the Netherlands finished in eighth place overall with 1,364.875 points. Jacobs scored 190.00 individual points (the third highest on the team), which placed him 60th overall in the individual all-around competition. Individual scores were registered during the team competition, and Jacobs finished 21st in the pommel horse, 49th in the jumps event, 55th in the rings and the parallel bars, and 85th in the horizontal bar.

Jacobs, the sole Jewish member of the men's gymnastics team, was killed at Sobibor in 1943. The Netherlands' women's team consisted of five Jewish members, and only one member (Elka de Levie) survived the Holocaust. The other gymnasts, Stella Blits-Agsteribbe, Anna Dresden-Polak, Lea Kloot-Nordheim, Judikje Themans-Simons, and coach Gerrit Kleerekoper all perished in 1943 or 1944. They have been inducted as a group into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
