Shtroch was a member of the Israeli shooting team at the 1972 Munich Olympics. During the Games, Palestinian terrorists broke into the Olympic Village with the intention of taking the entire Israeli delegation hostage. Shtroch was not captured by the terrorists, but eleven Israelis were killed in what has been termed the "Munich Massacre." One of the murdered Israelis was shooting coach Kehat Schorr.
