West was a member of the British rowing team in the men's eight rowing event at the Athens 2004 Olympics. The British team finished last in heat 2 (5:32.26) and were therefore forced into the repechage round. They rowed in the second repechage race and finished third (5:34.37) finishing third out of four teams. Rowing in final B on August 21, the Brits ranked third of three (5:55.77) and placed 9th overall.

Career Highlights:
Josh is an American national and began his rowing career at Yale before furthering his studies at Cambridge. He participated in "the Boat Race", the famed annual confrontation between Cambridge and Oxford four times and helped Cambridge to victory twice. West has won two World Championships medals in the coxless four event, winning the silver in both 2002 and 2003.
