Canada opened its Olympic campaign well as they beat Chinese Taipei 7-0 on August 15. Stern was 1 for 3, with a triple, walked once and scored 2 runs while driving one in. The centerfielder was 1 for 3 again, with a run scored and another batted in as Canada beat Italy 9-3 in their second game. Canada continued its winning streak against Italy on August 17, winning 7-0 as Stern made two hits in four at bats while scoring a run. Adam was hitless in the pitching battle between Canada and Greece, but the Canadians won 2-0 and the centerfielder scored a run. Stern was 1 for 3 against Japan on August 20 as the Canadian winning streak was halted with a 9-1 victory by the land of the rising sun. Canada lost again the following day, this time 5-2 to Cuba as the outfielder failed to connect with the ball. Adam and Canada progressed to the semifinals after shutting out Australia 11-0. Stern made a hit and scored a run in five at bats. Canada put up a brave fight against overwhelming favorites Cuba, but lost 8-5 in the semifinals. Stern was smoking at the plate, hitting 2-for-3, walking once and driving in a couple of runs. Stern lost his chance at a medal as Canada was creamed by 11-2 by Japan, while the outfielder was hitless. In summary, the Canadian centerfielder hit .250 in the Olympics with 4 ribbies, 6 runs scored, 2 stolen bases and a triple, while starting every game.

A quick center fielder with remarkable base running skills, Stern has been compared to Lenny Dykstra by many MLB scouts.

Career Highlights:
Stern starred for the University of Nebraska before being drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the third round, as the 105th pick overall in 2001. The outfielder had been drafted before, by the Blue Jays in the 22nd round of the 1998 draft, but preferred to pursue a full baseball scholarship in Nebraska. In his senior year with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Adam averaged .302 with five home runs and 41 RBI's and reached the College World Series. He was named to First-Team All-Big 12 Academic Team, as well as Second-Team All-Big 12.

Adam got his first taste of minor-league ball playing for Braves affiliates Jamestown in 2001 where he hit .307 with 11 RBI's in 75 at bats. In 2002 he was promoted to single A club The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, and in his first year he was starting centerfielder, hit .253 and led the Carolina League with 40 stolen bases. Stern's 2003 season was completely disrupted by a hamstring injury. In 2004 the Canadian started for AA affiliates the Greenville Braves and hit .321 with 42 RBI's and 8 home runs in 355 at bats and was named to the league all-star team. Adam is the team speedster as he led Greenville with 23 stolen bases and 8 triples.
