Michael Schemer

A first baseman who hit outstandingly for the New York Giants in 1945 (he had a single at-bat in 1946), Schemer was the son of an orthodox rabbi. Before his major league career, Mike was also a star football quarterback at the University of Miami, Florida.

b. November 20, 1917 - d. April 22, 1983

Career Highlights:
Lefty had a rousing .330 career batting average in his 32 games with the Giants. An extraordinarily adept contact hitter, he only struck out once in 109 career at-bats. He had only one at-bat during the 1946 season.
