Mark David Gilbert

A switch-hitting outfielder, Gilbert played one season in the majors. In 1985, Mark hit .273 while appearing in seven games for the Chicago White Sox.

Career Highlights:
The son and grandson of baseball players (his grandfather played semi-pro and his father in the minors), Gilbert played college baseball at Florida State University in the late 1970s. Signed by the Chicago Cubs in the summer of 1978, Mark spent the next six years in the Cubs' minor league organization. He became a free agent in 1984, signed with the Chicago White Sox and then played seven games in the majors in 1985 with the Sox. His career ended suddenly because of a knee injury. He later became a financial trader with Goldman, Sachs, and Company.
