Adam Jeremy Stern

An outfielder, Stern made his major league debut with the Boston Red Sox on July 7, 2005. One of his teammates is Kevin Youkilis, who is in his second year with Boston. In 2004, Stern played for the Canadian National Team at the Summer Olympics (the team finished in fourth place). Through July 22, the Red Sox have a record of 53-43 and are in first place in the AL East. Stern has appeared in 10 games and is hitting .333 (2-6) with one HR, two RBI, and one run scored - he also has one stolen base.

Career Highlights:
Born in Canada, Stern was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1998 MLB Draft, but decided to attend the University of Nebraska instead. In 2001, he was named first team Academic All-Big 12 and All-Big 12 honorable mention and helped lead the Huskers to the College World Series. The previous year (2000), Stern had been named All-Big 12 second team after hitting .356. Following his junior season, Stern was selected in the third round by the Atlanta Braves in the 2001 MLB Draft, but was then a Rule 5 pick by the Boston Red Sox in 2004. As a Rule 5 pick, he needs to be on the Red Sox roster for the entire season or could return to the Braves - Stern began the year on injured reserve, then was in rehab with AAA Pawtucket before being called up in July.
