Career Highlights:
Born in Brooklyn, Hodesblatt attended Boys High School before attending CCNY. As a sophomore in 1924, Hodesblatt joined the City College varsity team and played for legendary coach, Nat Holman. That year, he helped the Violets win their second consecutive Eastern championship with a record of 12-1; their only loss came in the final game of the season to rival NYU. The following year, Hodesblatt started at guard for much of the season as CCNY finished 12-2 and avenged the previous year's loss to NYU with a 34-24 victory. Max scored four points in the game. Hodesblatt was then named captain of the 1926 CCNY team that earned a record of 9-5.

After graduating, Hodesblatt became a very successful basketball coach. As the CCNY junior varsity coach for a few years, Max also led the team at LaSalle Academy. It was at Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, however, that Hodesblatt had his greatest success. Over the years, he coached such great Jewish players as Harry Boykoff, Hy Gotkin, Max Zaslofsky, and Sid Tannenbaum. In 1952, Hodesblatt's Jefferson team won the PSAL title. He was also a college referee in the 1940s and 1950s.
