Career Highlights:
Cohen began his varsity career in 1930 as a forward for the University of Pittsburgh. That year, he came off the bench and joined All-America Charley Hyatt and guard Lester Cohen on the Panthers. During the season, Pittsburgh won their first 12 games, including matches in the west against Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Montana State. A mid-season loss to Syracuse proved to be only a speed bump, as the Panthers won 11 of their final 12 games to finish the season with a record of 23-2. For the second time in three years, they were declared National Champions (they also won the championship in 1928).

In 1931, Pittsburgh had to deal with the graduation of Lester Cohen and Hyatt, but still had a very strong team. Milton was expected to be the first player off the bench, but the New York Post wrote before the season that he, "...may break through as a starter." The Panthers struggled early in the season, losing three of their first eight games, but then hit their stride in the ninth game with a 24-22 win over a tough Purdue team. Pittsburgh went on to win 15 of their final 16 games of the season (their only loss was to City College of New York, 18-16. The Panthers ended the year with a record of 20-4.
