Benjamin B. Dessen

Dessen played both guard and forward at the University of Pennsylvania in the 1920s. He was one of the top scorers in the Ivy League during his college career.

Career Highlights:
Dessen began his varsity career as a sophomore forward in 1922. He scored 12 points on the season and the Quakers went 24-3 (8-3 in the Ivy League, third in the conference). He missed the 1923 season, but returned to collegiate play in 1924.

Although he played forward for part of the season, toward the end of the year Dessen became a starter at guard. That year, Penn finished 18-8 (3-7, sixth place in the Ivy League). Dessen finished 13th in the league in scoring with 36 points.

In 1925, his senior season, Dessen again played both guard and forward and was among the top 15 in the league in scoring. Penn finished the year 17-5 overall (6-4, third in conference). One of his teammates in 1925 was sophomore guard, and All-Ivy League first team selection, Menchy Goldblatt.
