Goldstein played two seasons of varsity basketball for Dartmouth in the early 1920s. In 1922, he played center for the Big Green and helped them finish third in the Ivy League with a conference record of 6-4 (13-7 overall). That year, Goldstein finished 13th in the conference in scoring with 26 points.

In 1923, Goldstein moved to forward and was joined on the Dartmouth varsity by sophomore center, Karl Friedman. That year, the Big Green went undefeated in non-conference play (11-0), but finished fifth in the conference with a record of 3-7 (14-7 overall). Goldstein finished 22nd in the conference in scoring with 20 points.
