Philip H. Rakov

Rakov played guard at Syracuse University, and was a starter for the Orangemen in 1926 when the team captured the National Championship.

Career Highlights:
Rakov was a two-year starter at guard for the Syracuse Orangemen in the mid-1920s. Alongside All-America (and future Hall of Famer) Vic Hanson, Rakov led Syracuse to a record of 15-2 in 1925. The following season, Syracuse won its first 15 games of the season before falling to Penn State, 37-31; Rakov scored eight points in the game. The Orangemen rebounded from the loss, however, and went on to win their final four games of the season to finish the year 19-1. In the final game of the season, Rakov scored eight points in Syracuse's 29-12 win over Colgate. Following the regular season, the Helms Athletic Foundation named Syracuse the National Champions.
