Brand played basketball at City College of New York in the early days of the school's program.

Career Highlights:
Brand played three seasons for CCNY in the early twentieth century and joined City's team in the second year of the basketball program. In 1907, the Beavers had a record of 8-1; their only loss was to Fordham 22-13. The next season they compiled a 9-2 record and outscored their opponents 398-196! In 1909, Brand finished his career by helping CCNY to a 8-3 record as they won their final six games of the season.
