Birth and Death Dates:

Career Highlights:
A bantamweight contender in the early 1910s, Kaufman battled the great Johnny Kilbane twice in 1910. Both bouts ended in no decisions as Kaufman held his own against the future world champ (Kilbane won the title from Abe Attell in 1912). Kaufman's next challenge came in 1914 against contender George "K.O." Chaney, who knocked Kaufman out in the sixth-round. Two years later, he faced the great lightweight Lew Tendler twice, with both bouts no decisions. Kaufman's final great opponent was world champ Kid Williams, who he faced twice. The first bout, in October 1916, was a non-title affair and ended in a 10-round decision. The second fight, however, took place in March 1917, less than two months after Williams lost the world bantamweight title; Kid took his frustrations out on Kaufman and knocked him out in the 10th-round.
