Solomons, Jack

A member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, Solomons was the foremost English promoter in history, and is credited with reviving boxing in Great Britain after World War II. He brought many American fighters to England in the post-War period, and spent over 50 years in the sport, staging 26 title fights.

b. unknown - d. 1980

Career Highlights:
In 1945, Solomons had his first big promotion with the Jack London-Bruce Woodcock British Heavyweight Championship fight. A connection with American promoter, and fellow Jew, Mike Jacobs, helped provide Solomons with the best American boxers. He also promoted the first professional fight in Israel.
