A light-heavyweight in the 1940s and early 1950s, Yvel was the French and European champion from 1950-51.

Career Highlights:
Yvel began his career in the mid-1940s and fought Jury VII in Algeria in 1945 and 1946; Yvel won the first bout on a decision and knocked out his opponent in the second fight. In July 1950, he then defeated Renato Tontini to win the European light-heavyweight championship. Five months later, Yvel successfully defended his title against Paco Bueno on an eighth-round technical knockout. The following March however, he lost the title to British champ Don Cockell by getting knocked out in the fourth round.
