Arouch, Salomo

Arouch, a Greek Jew, was the middleweight champion of the Balkans before World War II. During the Holocaust, he was deported to Auschwitz and forced to box in staged fights for the camp guards. His story is depicted in the film Triumph of the Spirit, in which he is portrayed by actor Willem Dafoe.
