Career Highlights:
A featherweight in the 1910s and early 1920s, he began his career in 1916. Nicknamed the "Bronx Bonecrusher," Murray battled the great Johnny Kilbane in January 1920 in a six-round bout that ended in a no decision. He then fought contender Red Cap Wilson four times over the next two years. Murray won the first fight on a 10-round decision, but was knocked out in the second fight (both occured in 1921). The following year, they split decisions with Murray winning in 12-rounds in April and Wilson winning in 8-rounds in September. Murray eventually retired with 42 career wins, 38 of which were knockouts.
