A fine lightweight who began his career in 1904, Brown faced the great Johnny Dundee twice in the early 1910s. In November 1911 in New York City, their first bout ended in a 10-round no decision. Their second bout, four months later on March 16 in Brooklyn, also ended in a 10-round no decision. Brown fought until 1914 and won 21 of 25 career decisions, with 55 no decisions.
