Another of the Jewish boxers who changed his name to appeal to Irish fans (from Hyman Gold to Jimmy Duffy), Duffy was a good, tough welterweight who won most of the 78 professional bouts that he fought in the 1920s.

Career Highlights:
Duffy began his career as a welterweight in 1920, and won 56 of 78 career decisions. In 1928, his final year of professional boxing, Duffy fought world junior-lightweight champ Tod Morgan in Toledo, Ohio on April 3; the bout ended in a 10-round no decision. Eight days later in Oakland, California, Duffy defeated future welterweight champion "Young" Jack Thompson on an eighth-round disqualification.
