A middleweight from Brooklyn, Schwartz fought Jake LaMotta twice but was knocked out in both bouts.

Career Highlights:
Schwartz began his professional boxing career in the late 1930s. He fought exclusively in the New York Metropolitan area in the early years of his career. He fought in Jamaica (Queens), Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx before making his debut at Madison Square Garden. In January 1941, Schwartz fought Jack Donovan in the Garden, but lost a six-round decision. Later that year, Schwartz fought former NBA world welterweight champion Izzy Jannazzo and lost a ten-round decision.

Schwartz continued to box professionally for a number of years and twice fought future world middleweight champion, Jake LaMotta. The first fight, which took place in April 1942, ended in a ninth-round knockout of Schwartz. Three years later, the two boxers stepped back into the ring. The result, a knockout, was the same, but Schwartz lost in the first-round in this bout. According to existing records, it was Schwartz's final professional fight.
