Roth, the 1927 New York Golden Gloves flyweight champion, boxed professionally as a bantamweight.

Career Highlights:
After winning the New York Golden Gloves open flyweight title in 1927, Roth turned professional. In October of that year, he fought Pete Sanstol, a future claimant of the world bantamweight title. The bout went six-rounds before Roth lost on a technical knockout. The two boxers fought twice the following year and Roth lost both bouts on six-round decisions.

In June 1929, Roth fought the great Kid Chocolate and lost on a third-round technical knockout. The bout, which took place at Queensboro Stadium in Queens, raised $50,000 for the National Sports Alliance Relief Fund (used to help out indigent, aged & incapacitated athletes). The following year, Roth fought Puerto Rican featherweight champion Koli Kolo and was knocked out in the second-round.
