The brother of lightweight Phil Brock, Matt also fought professionally as a lightweight in the 1910s.

Career Highlights:
Born in Russia, Brock and his family settled in Cleveland, Ohio. In the early 1910s, he began fighting professionally as a lightweight and in August 1912, he fought the great Johnny Dundee, the future world junior lightweight champion. The bout, which took place in Cleveland, went the full ten rounds and ended in a no decision. Two months later, the two boxers fought again and Brock lost a ten-round decision in New Orleans. In March 1915, Brock fought another top fighter, "K.O" Chaney in Akron, Ohio. Matt was knocked out in the 12th-round.

In April 1917, Brock fought world featherweight champion Johnny Kilbane in a non-title bout. The ten round bout went the distance and ended in a no decision. The following year, Matt fought Johnny Dundee again, this time in a four-round exhibition in Cleveland. In June 1920, Brock fought another champion, future lightweight title-holder Rocky Kansas. The bout, held in Kansas' hometown of Buffalo, ended in a no decision. Matt retired at the end of the year.
