Career Highlights:
A light-heavyweight, Goldberg began his professional boxing career in October 1941 against Billy Smith, but lost an eight-round decision. He won his next two of his next three fights (both on knockouts) and then had a rematch with Smith, but lost another six-round decision. In September 1942, Goldberg fought Smith for a third time, but lost again (Smith captured the California light heavyweight championship in 1945).

In April 1943, Goldberg fought Harold Blacksheer, an opponent who outweighed him by 30 pounds. The bout, which took place in San Francisco, ended in the fourth-round when Blacksheer knocked Jerry out. The following year, Goldberg fought Bob Smith again and lost for a fourth time (on an eighth-round knockout). Jerry retired from the ring in 1946.
